Rosuvastatin calcium belongs to a group of drugs knows as statins. Rosuvastatin is used to reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and increase HDL (good) cholesterol levels. It also reduces the levels of triglycerides (fats in blood). Improving cholesterol levels helps prevent blockages from forming in the arteries. These blockages can cause serious problems, including heart attack or stroke.
